Mr. Smith has pursued the path of design process and solution integration through personal practice, academia and practice as an apprenticing architect and engineer. The exerting nucleus of his experiences has been “building a[s] being, which envelops notions of collaboration, ethics, engineering and artistic methodologies and concepts. It is human to create – to build – something which then takes on an existence of its own. The being, just as humanity’s evolution, is both a reflection of the how and to what end it was created, whether an intangible construct, a product, or an AEC manifestation.
With an education in architectural engineering and facilities management, Mr. Smith has worked in many aspects and sectors of the AEC industry. Gaining experience from working at places such as Hospital Corporation of America, to Gresham, Smith & Partners; from Oak Ridge National Laboratory to Square D; from commercial, residential and mixed-use development to Amec Environment and Infrastructure large federal projects, he has adapted his skills to always seek the best performing attributes, simple solutions and collaborative approaches.
In the midst of such an array of experience, Mr. Smith has kept people the most important of priorities, truly enjoying the individuals and clients with whom he has been fortunate enough to work. Maintaining positive relationships during and after employment has allowed him to value and to leverage experiences from areas of expertise not always planned.
